Polished concrete is basically turning a concrete slab into a finished dust proof functional surface. I feel the main purpose of polished concrete is function, wears well, dust proof and cleanable. Beyond those positives, polished concrete can also be attractive and affordable.
This is achieved mostly by a process. I start out grinding the surface off the concrete as evenly and consistent as I can. Then I will move up to finer and finer diamond grits, removing any scratch from the previous grind. Once this is complete which can be anywhere from 6 to 10 steps until polished, I apply 2 coats of concrete guard and burnish, leaving a gloss finish with some protection. Untreated concrete is just bare concrete and will stain easily, guard is applied as a barrier in case a spill occurs but should be cleaned as soon as possible.
Concrete polish is a great choice for floors that are exposed to clean traffic like residential, commercial and warehouses. This surface may not hold up well to sandy, muddy, oily or salty exposure. This is why I offer concrete coatings.
